I guess there isn't a lot to say about myself. I was born in Wilmington, NC and have lived here for the better
part of my life. I have enjoyed a large variety of music all my life. I was fortunate enough to have a mother that
played guitar and enjoyed singing. And at the age of 9 I began to learn to play and sing along with her.
I spent years on the road doing what I thought was fun. Then in 1989 on my way to a show a miraculous
event changed my life. I was on a motorcycle, in the rain, in the wrong lane, and out of control. The accident
that was about to take place was unavoidable. In desperation I called upon the name of Jesus. The next thing I
knew I was on the side of the road. Wet, scared and praying. At that very moment, Jesus came into my life
and saved me. I had never felt so safe and free my whole life. I was so excited that after I arrived at my
destination, I began to tell everyone what God had done for me. Me, a nobody, nothing special, just plain old
John.
I was without understanding, and didn't have much time in my schedule to obtain it. It was a couple of years
later before I actually realized the depth of the price that was paid, for me. Still, I continued performing in the
clubs. It was my job. I began to suppress feelings of telling others, and pretty soon I was as miserable as I was
before. My life was falling apart all around me. I tried everything that I could think of to no avail.
One Sunday morning as I prepared to start my day I felt a strange sensation to attend church services. It was
the weirdest thing, but compelling enough for me to go. After that first Sunday I knew that Jesus was the only
thing that mattered. Slowly I was transformed, I came out of the night clubs and began singing praise. I found
myself on the receiving end of Gods blessing, it is wonderful. Once again I began to tell others about Jesus and
His wonderful saving grace.
My new job put me in contact with a lot of people on a daily basis. One day as I completed my route I realized
that I had only had the opportunity to witness to about half of them. As I pondered the thought of all those I had
not yet spoken with, I considered that another means of witnessing was necessary. After much prayer I
decided that means would be a newsletter that I could hand out to those I came in contact with in my travels.
From this desire to reach out to others the "Road To Life" was birthed in my heart.
Today I am ecstatic with songs of joy and praise for my Lord and Savior. I have watched His love and
faithfulness abound in my life, and this ministry. He has shown me the reward for sowing good seed.
I have had the privilege to partner with my son in ministry for a season, I am currently on the board of trustees
in Men of New Vision, I am also on the board of directors in Merging in Christ Ministries. I am the bass
guitarist and a vocalist in "Changed" music ministry, and guitarist, songwriter, composer, and lead vocalist for
"Stand" music ministry. I am the music director at Federal Point Pentecostal Church, and an Evangelist.
I am a blessed man in every aspect of the word. And I owe it all to my Lord and Savior Jesus. If I could offer
any insight into all that I have learned, I think the phrase, "Let go, and Let God", would pretty much sum things
up. And just in case you ever wondered, there is such a thing as hope. And His name is Jesus.
Love In Christ,
J. Ruben Sr.

Ezek. 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. KJV
